Farm Lovin'

I'm in love with the farm here. I've mentioned this in previous posts, but a bunch of us here at the married student apartments take turns driving out to a farm in Amish country and picking up eggs, chicken, beek, lamb, milk, and honey. In addition, the farmer's market here is the most amazing thing I have ever seen, and we can even bike to it easily from where we live. So there's great produce too.

The Amish farm collects the egg cartons they give out. Most of them aren't dated, but this time we got one that was. June 13 2008, that's how long this carton has been in circulation. Cool huh? Smart from a financial standpoint for them.

Making butter. Yep, the milk is DEFINITELY whole milk, meaning we can make our own butter from it. Here's the butter and the buttermilk.

Dorothy is a great helper with the butter-making. Yes, she loves straight butter. And I let her snitch straight butter. Please still be my friends.

How do you even know how to make butter? That's impressive.

Sydney loves straight butter too!! Maybe it's an oldest child thing. I wish we could join in on your farm group! That's great!!!

I'm thinking Dorothy just likes anything coming out of the KitchenAid. Maybe you'll have to whip up some of her not-so-favorite veggies in there. We haven't made homemade butter in ages - not since the kiddies were little.

having tasted your homemade butter I can confirm to the cyberworld that it really does taste better. I'd snitch too, Dorothy.
