A perfect solution

Last week we went to Stover's, a fantastic you-pick farm that has berries, peaches, apples, sunflowers, grapes... you name it. A new friend here, Melissa, introduced me to it, and I think we'll become regulars. It makes me feel very Americana/Pastoral Romantic going there. It's the same feeling I get when I'm hanging clothes on the clothesline with Dorothy and Simon playing around my ankles. Love it.

Anyway, I think anyone with toddlers should start going to you-pick places, and here's why.

1. It's fun to get out and be outside.
2. Your toddler gets a totally free lunch, meaning they eat all the berries you're picking as you pick them.

3. You get super yummy, really fresh fruit that is SO GOOD.
4. Super cheap.
I got enough peaches to make about 20+ jars of jam, plus enough berries to make... one smoothie? Maybe? Bet you can't guess why : ) Melissa joked that they should weigh kids before and after they go to the you-pick farms. That totally wouldn't work though, because I would just stay and lounge on the grass under a peach tree as long as it would take for Dorothy to poop. That's my hypothetical plan.

Dorothy still insisted on wearing a dress, but the grass would scratch her legs. We finally compromised. She wore jeans UNDER her dress. Stylin' little lady.

I like this picture because it looks like the car is on Dorothy's head. Tee Hee.
I've already made about 14 jars of jam. I found a special recipe and pectin that doesn't need as much sugar, and you can use honey instead. So so so yummy!
