I realize that this is a significant departure from my usual posts-- this has nothing to do with my kids.
Dallin and I went to see the new James Bond movie this weekend. I know James Bond is violent and he's a womanizer, but it's such a cultural phenomenon that I thought we'd give it a go. I left this one feeling especially sickened by the movie's treatment of it's female characters. I know, really Janelle? A Bond movie is anti-feminist? Yeah, not surprising. But I have never seen a movie be this blatantly, cruelly sexist before in the way it exploits the women in the story.

I'm so mad that this movie is making so much money and that it's so highly acclaimed. I'm mad that movies like this are still being made in the 21st century. James Bond, you're a jerk.

GROSS. I agree - it's disgusting that these kind of movies are still widely acclaimed and that James Bond is idolized by so many, even considered some kind of "ideal" man. What the heck?! GROSS GROSS GROSS.

I've been wondering about whether it would be worth spending the money for the sake of a little brain-dead action-movie relaxation. I will now save my very few pounds and use them to buy toffee and shortbread instead.
