Here, in a nut shell is our trip to Oregon. The highlights included-
Angie's wedding
Powell's books (the biggest bookstore on the west coast)
Dallin going to 2 Blazer playoff games
the tulip festival
hiking
making truffles with Grandma Dorothy
and a trip to the beach ALONE with just me and Dallin
Oh, and seeing family. : )
These are at my younger sister Angie and my new LITTLE (actually 4 years older than me) brother's wedding. Doesn't she look beautiful?!!!
My favorite Dorothy moment at the wedding- at the luncheon, tables surrounded a dance floor. In the middle of the meal, Dorothy marched out onto the floor, got down on her hands and knees, and started "cleaning" the floor with a napkin. Awww.
Somebody brought their dog to the temple. Dorothy was in heaven playing with it and the giant reflecting pool, which she called a "tubby". (She tried to use it as a tubby a couple times too.)
Making chocolate mint truffles as gifts/handouts for Angie's reception. This is becoming a tradition, we did it for my wedding too. That's me, my Mom and Angie in the picture, but Grandma Dot is the true mastermind behind the operation.
Dallin and I went on a trip BY OURSELVES (!!!!) to the Oregon coast for a few days. This was my first time leaving Dorothy overnight, and I did OK. The trip itself was fabulous! We ate out, went hiking, went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory, and basically idled the days away.
We stayed in this place. SO CUTE!!! (Obviously not our picture)

Gorgeous, gorgeous Oregon Coast. I'm not sure what Dallin thinks about it here...
We went on a hike on the trail that William Clark (as in Lewis and Clark) took to see a beached whale. Ooooh, wow! It was about a three mile loop, and one of the most gorgeous hikes I've been on. Here's Dallin climbing on a fallen tree. I was getting nervous for him, it was completely moss covered and wet.
Back in Gresham, we took Dorothy on a hike to the top of Multnomah Falls. Random factoid- that's the falls they show in the Twilight movie. That was my favorite part about that movie, so many things in Oregon I recognized. Anyway, at the top of the falls, there is a balcony that juts out over the falls. Here's Dallin and Dorothy after the long climb.
Here's a shot of the falls from about halfway up the trail. I LOVE that hike.
Looking down from the balcony. I always feel this sense of pride at the top of a hike, even if it's not that hard. I like this shot because I think "Oh yeah! I climbed up all that way"...with switchbacks, but whatev. Dallin did that with Dorothy on his back. What a studmuffin.
The tulip festival! It was amazing! Just fields of tulips as far as I could see. Dorothy liked the ruts between the rows, "tickling" unsuspecting dogs and pulling petals off flowers when I wasn't looking.
When we pulled up and got out, Dorothy kept repeating "OOOh! Wow! Wow!"
It was an absolutely WONDERFUL trip. Thanks to all the family and friends who made it so great!

I'm happy to see that Dorothy smiles in so many pictures. (She has a darling smile, by the way!) Many toddlers are not aware of cameras or else they make weird faces. She's such a doll!
Fun fun! I love those falls too. I like how wet you get walking in front of them. That's great that you got to take a little side trip just the two of you. Kaulana and I can't wait to do that. Hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later. We need to get together now that you're back!
Not only is Powell's the largest bookstore on the West coast, but it is in fact the largest independent bookstore in the world. Cool, huh?
