First Day

My baby (who was born two weeks ago) just started kindergarten. It's full day here, it's a big deal.

The lady of the day requested chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Not everyone was happy.

One of her biggest concerns with going to school was making sure that baby doll was taken care of, we made sure of that.

Ruby toes.

 Before and after!

This is the backpack that Dorothy designed. Red polka dots, and fabric I'd had in my stash-- a goodwill pillowcase. But she loved it. The lining on the inside is fuchsia japanese style elephant fabric. I just took orders, I had no input, and it turned out awesome.

She has been having a great time. We entered the lottery for one of the local magnet schools and lucked out, she got in! We love her teacher, I thought wearing a uniform was going to be a bummer but it's actually adorable, and she has nice friends.
But we miss her during the day. This girl is a ray of sunshine. She is kind, thoughtful, creative and helpful. I want to homeschool her and let her play in mud puddles all day, but I have to keep telling myself that this is a good thing. Because it is.
