In no particular order, here's some things that have happened over the last little bit.
-We survived another finals week! Dallin is getting more efficient at writing mammoth seminar papers, so this one wasn't nearly as bad as ones previous. I'm still not very good at being independent and really going places or doing things with all of our babies. So, I'm glad busy finals week is over. We celebrated by... sitting around, sleeping, doing nothing, and generally being slovenly fools. We did get a pizza.
-We've played a lot of Mom and Grill (Dorothy=Mom, I am Grill). I don't think that game is ever going to die. And I am still having to say ridiculous things like "Mom, DO NOT lick your sister!"
-Dorothy and I made proper English scones with jam and tea, and we (read: Dorothy) watched the royal wedding. She was SO into it. We watched it on our computer on youtube, and every once in a while I'd try to click over to check email to the tune of loud protestation from her. She didn't want to miss a single second. Even if it was just choir boys singing.
-Remember how a few posts ago, I said that the babies were only waking up once a night? Yeah, that was a lovely week. We're back to partying all night long. We've had nights or short stretches here and there with more solid sleep, but it's been erratic. The funny thing is, it doesn't bother me too much anymore. I've spent the last six months perpetually tired, but all of a sudden, I'm okay. Nothing's changed with their sleep, I wonder if my body has simply resigned itself to the fact that there is little sleep to be had, so I may as well get used to it. It's a good place to be, finally.
-I am a stroller snob. When Dorothy was little, we'd originally bought a stroller for $5 at a garage sale. It worked fine, but then started falling apart. Right about then, my uncle, who has a rad bike shop, had an amazing deal on the World's Most Wonderful Jogging Stroller. We bought it, and I was a convert to the Way of the Fancy Stroller. So smooth! So easy to use! All of a sudden I was going on heavenly long walks and staying out all afternoon!
Armed with this experience, when I found out we were having twins, I found the most amazing deal on a used super-mom, do-it-all, rugged stroller. I thought I was set. But, it just wasn't working. It was so heavy to get in and out of our apartment and car. And I have a hard enough time going anywhere anyway. So, I sold the Double Stroller Dreams Are Made Of and bought a new, lightweight stroller. I took only a $15 loss from what we paid when we sold it, mind you. Booya. I love Craigslist.
I was so excited for the one that I got while I was pregnant. But I need something I can transfer from apartment to car to sidewalk easily.
The old stroller. Isn't it breathtakingly cool and rugged? *Sigh*
The new stroller is on its way in the mail. I'll show you when it gets here. Leading up to the purchase, I spent HOURS researching strollers, hours of my life that I. Will. Never. Get. Back. I don't know how many hours. I am a woman obsessed, it's unhealthy. I made charts of pros and cons.
I think (hope!) this one will be a good fit for what we need. I can say it's well researched. That's one thing with twinsies and a three year old- I can't go anywhere without it. Really. When Dorothy was a baby and I just needed to run into a store quickly, I could always carry her. Not so with this crowd, just carrying them doesn't work, obviously. Then I'm left with no arms to, you know, open doors or get out my wallet. So lets hope this works better.
I feel silly.

I'm excited to see and read about your new stroller. I was at Julia's friend's birthday party last night and met a family that have a 3 1/2 year old girl and 18 mo. old twin girls. I thought about how that was going to be you guys in a year! The girls all looked so cute together. You'll have so much fun with 3 girls close in age--what great friends they'll be! Way to survive another week of finals!! And happy 6 mo. to the twins. Isaac turned 6 mo. today. I huge milestone!!! :)
nice story -glad to hear it but really on a picture of the stroller??? We want real pictures!
I can't wait to see this new stroller!!!
Also, I miss hanging out with you big time. This post made me want to come sit on your couch all day. Let's do that next week. :)
I love the "Double Stroller Made of Dreams"...I have a problem spending way too much time researching things (even for things that don't cost very much!)...but I'm sure in this case all the time that you'll never get back is very much worth it!
I am picky about strollers, too. I've had winners and loser.
Can't wait to hear how this one is...
And so sorry about the sleep! Glad your body has come to terms with it (mine is totally rebelling right now!)
Oh! And I love that you made english scones for the wedding. We only caught highlights later and I think Kenna wishes she had seen more of it!
I'm so with Dorothy.....I loved watching the royal wedding. I'm so sad the talk of all of it is over too.
And I'm with you on researching strollers....I spent way too much time looking at all the reviews of each stroller that was ever made. Bryan was convinced I would never get one because I could never decide. I'm so excited to see pictures!
I can't believe the girls will be a year in just 6 months! I hope the sleep gets better. I am excited for your new stroller! Couldn't live without one!
Someday Mom and Grill WILL die, and then you will look back at this blog and remember and laugh.
Long live the blog.
Research. It's how we make our money--by saving money when we make a wise purchase, right? (It's how I justify my internet hours anyway.)
