This week

Dallin got our bikes cleaned up and ready for summer (YAY!!!!) Dorothy helped by measuring our bikes. That's my bike in the picture. Her name is Perla. I think she may be my favorite thing that I own in the whole wide world. I don't totally know how we're going to work going on bike rides this summer with our newly expanded family. Any thoughts/suggestions? Has anyone used one of those kid seats that go right behind you on the bike? I think we'd have to get a new double trailer too. Ours is old school and doesn't really have seat belts. Whoopsy. Definitely won't work for babies. Still good for solo grocery shopping trips, I guess.

I've been having Dorothy dress herself entirely on her own. It may seem obvious to other moms to teach kids to do this, but I had just never thought of it. I took this picture because her shirt is on backwards and is too small, she "did" her own hair, her pants are on backwards, and... her shoes are on the wrong feet. And I let her go to the store with Dad that way. I think it's about the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Also, that's her stuffed lamb she's cooking on the stove. Baaaa.

Ruby, post tubby.

Norah in the tub. Call me a super with-it parent, but I think she's tired.

A self portrait. FYI, this was taken at noon, and it was the third outfit change. I give in, spit up. You are now a permanent fixture on my clothes.

I've been reading some Montessori education books, and decided to get Dorothy some real cleaning supplies. I got her this broom off of Amazon.
And I don't know why this is underlined. It spontaneously started doing this. Meh.

It came in this box. That's right, just a mini broom in THAT box, no joke. What the heck?

Dorothy looks so proud...backward clothes and all! Have you read the book, "Mommy Teach Me"...I can't remember the author but she is a mom and montessori teacher and I thought it was really good. Especially all the things to do with preschool age kids like Dorothy. I forget what it was like to have spit up as a permanent fixture on clothes...I guess I'll be reminded of that, soon! Love your updates!

As I was reading your post, Chrisitan spit up tons all over me. (And he is doesn't do it often) So I went to change my clothes and came back to finish your post and once again I got caked with sour milk. So, instead I'm not going to change but enjoy the wonderful aroma of sour milk! SO thanks for teaching me to just enjoy the permanent marks of a child's spits up!!

Dorothy posing with backwards clothes, frying up a lamb is so very funny. I love those babies. If you're going to put a baby on the bike, I always preferred the front-mounted baby seats over the behind-you ones.

Dorothy looks so grown up! So proud of herself, too! Way cute. I loved the picture of sleeping in the tub.
Precious!

Have you read the biography (or autobiography?) of Marie Montessori? I haven't read it, but I mean to, and I've heard it's very good.

Don't worry, I didn't teach my 3rd child that he had to dress himself until he was four. I think I had to bribe him.

Love the tub slumber pic!

Lovely girls! Puke is so ubiquitous with my singletons, so I can't fathom how much more I could smell like dairy gone bad with 2!
