We are in South Bend Indiana, lounging on our luxurious camping chairs and air mattress in our lovely apartment. Our furniture is scheduled to come on Thursday, so until then, we're camping at home. Dorothy was an absolute trooper for the never-ending drive.
I think I'm going to like it here. It's very lush and green, and is MUCH more diverse than Provo. (Not hard to do.) There are REAL black people here!!!
The coolest thing about our temporary apartment is that it is campus housing, and the only people who live in this complex are married Notre Dame students with children. There are two U-shaped buildings facing each other (picture a big oval) with a HUGE play structure in the middle. I have never in all my years EVER seen a park with a play structure this big or this cool. Anyway, it makes making friends easy. The Moms just sit around and crochet as they watch their kids play. I need to learn how to crochet now.
Slightly ghetto-- no overhead lights in bedrooms or living room, 70's kitchen cabinets with broken handles, no blinds, and kids trikes, strollers, and outdoor toys littering every walkable space, but excellent washer and dryer-- yay cloth diapers! But I still think this will be a pleasant landing site. Fantastic community feel. I think I'll be able to make lots of friends.
We miss our wonderful family and friends already!

Yeah!! Good luck with the move in! And good luck crocheting!
So glad you guys made it safe and sound. The playground sounds fun! I'll miss you Janelle, thanks for always welcoming us in to your home!
Whew! Glad you made it through Illinois :) What great stories. Sounds like you're going to have a lot of fun! I remember when we moved to Maryland just after Sydney was born our furniture didn't arrive for three weeks! So I rocked her in a banana chair that we got from my cousin and she slept in a laundry basket! I think she liked it better than the crib :)
