In the last few months, I've realized that your relationship with your parents change once you have your own children. A type of connection emerges that never quite existed before, as you slowly and solemnly begin to fill the shoes that your parents stepped into so long ago when they sired you. How do you describe it, that feeling when your parents meet your children...
Basically, you disappear.
Well, that's not completely true. After all, someone has to materialize when the blessed child cries or poops or smells funny. But in the end, your job is to facilitate all the lovin' and spoilin' that Gram and Gramps want to smother their grandkids with and then tidy up when it's all over. So, allow me to step aside once more so you can grace your eyes on what all you Grandmas and Grandpas really want to see.
Enjoy!
Have you ever seen such a happy baby?
Dorothy Mae going for the world record of number of chubby fingers stuffed into one mouth while taking a bath mind you. She's quite the overachiever.
Most parents take pictures of their child when they take their first step, or when they say their first word, or when they lose their first tooth. Us? We take a picture when our child does her first impression of having rabies. Look at those bubbles!
