Chi-CA-go

Norah in Chicago

Last Saturday we took a day trip to the land of deep dish pizza to meet up with some friends.

What's this picture you ask? Only the view looking up when you're under The Bean.

My children under The Bean. Norah L Ruby R. They were so freaked out by the crowds of people that I don't think they even noticed their reflection.

Everybody else was taking pictures like this by The Bean, so we'd thought we'd try it too. Not such a great optical illusion. Picture fail.

Dallin self portrait.

Us in front of The Bean.

The Bean. This has to be the coolest city art piece I have ever seen.
Do you see me in the reflection? You can see the flash, and I've got a baby on my hip.

Next up, the fountain of creepy faces. This pool had two glass towers on either end where people's faces were projected onto the facade from the inside. They blinked, it was eerie.

It's just inches deep. Dorothy went right in.

Then we found out that the faces spit water. Awesome.

Dorothy did froggy jumps on the pavement so she could see her footprints. Notice the mark from her wet skirt hem?
A crowd of hipster kids copied her.

Dorothy and our wonderful friends.

Problem-- cool weather plus now her skirt and leggings were wet. Had I though this through, I would have taken one off before she splashed around-- either skirt or leggings, then she could change into the other. Oh well, good for future knowledge. The fix for the time?
The jacket-skirt. Or the jackirt.

Not pictured-- babies multiple (and valiant) attempts to crawl into the fountain. Ha ha! Foiled again, tiny humans!
Also, Dorothy getting an ear infection. We think. All of a sudden, she was inconsolably crying that her ear hurt. Nothing worked, I've never seen her like that, we couldn't do anything to comfort her or make her happy. So we left for home earlier than planned and suddenly on the drive she felt fine, no ear drainage and nothing since. Weird.
