A post in which I actually write something!

-Dorothy's favorite words lately are "alright" and "but." She uses them all the time. "Alright" is pretty cute. Ex- "Dorothy, time to get your shoes on." She looks so pleased to be given the sole responsibility of finding her shoes and putting them on herself that her chest puffs up a little and she say what sounds like "Awight." in her most mature, solemn, dignified voice.
"But" is hilarious. She doesn't know how to use it correctly.
Example.
"Mommy, this juice is purple, but this juice is orange. But, we got it at the store, but, I like the store. But, Daddy got me a treat at the store!"
It starts so close to correct usage, but then goes down hill. See, that is how one uses the word "but" correctly.
"But" finds its way into every sentence these days.

-The babies have started sleeping better. THANK GOODNESS!!!!!! Now, they usually go to bed sometime between 7 and 8:30. I wake them up and nurse them at 10:30ish, then go to bed, and for the past week, they'll usually wake up just one more time, then wake up for good at around 7. When one wakes up, I nurse that one, change her, and put her back to sleep, then wake the other one up and do it again. The whole process takes close to an hour, but I only having to get up once. SO MUCH BETTER than the last couple months when I was doing that 2, 3, or 4 times a night (granted, they weren't waking up to nurse every time, sometimes they were just waking up for who knows why) and one or the other wasn't going back to sleep right away either. I'm not sure how we survived. I think I could cry for joy.

-The girls are 5 months old! We didn't have a party this month, because I had food poisoning on their birthday. Bummer, not conducive to partying. I'll have to make it up sometime soon.

-On April 15, they both rolled over for the first time. They both did it on the same day! Isn't that funny? Ruby has been trying to for a long time now, but she was never able to figure out what to do with that pesky arm that got in her way, so she'd just go back to default position.
Norah showed no interest and seemed content to stay on her back or side. Then on the 15th, BAM! They both just did it!

-Today the Blazers played game 4 in the playoffs. For those of you who don't know Dallin well, he LOVES basketball and LOVES the Blazers. (Remember this post where he said we would name our next child after Brandon Roy?) We needed to go to the grocery store. The Blazers were looking terrible after 3 quarters, and Dallin said that he couldn't stand to watch any more, so he offered to take Dorothy to the store to save himself the pain of seeing them go down (plus Dorothy had been patiently asking us when we were going to the store for about 15 minutes). While he was gone, the Blazers made an amazing come-back. Really, amazing. He was gone for only a half hour and he missed the whole thing. Here's a quote from a sports blog that he follows.

This game will be spoken about for generations to come. This was possibly the biggest (and longest!) swing from fan depression to euphoria in team history. If you can see this game, find a way. Don't ask us how, go find a friend with a DVR, something, just do it.

Okay, so maybe a little dramatic, but he missed it. Oh the irony! Let's hope those bananas and grapefruit were worth it.

And what kind of blog post would this be without some gratuitous pictures of my spawn?

The squishies in their full post tubby glory, Norah L, Ruby R.
We do cloth diapers during the day and sposies at night. With Dorothy, it took us far too long to figure out that babies sleep much better in sposies. Sorry, environment and bank account, some things are worth it. (Actually, I'm not that sorry. I like sleep.)

That's cool they both rolled over on the same day. They really are identical twins!!
And tell Dallin he needs to see the last quarter of that game. It really was amazing!!

Scott says,
Dallin I am disappointed in you. No one thought we had a chance. Real fans never give up. My ears still hurt - I'll never forget you just should.

Dallin,
So sad for you. I too missed the game. I even had a chance for tickets through Larry Kerr but opted to watch Elise pole vault at a track meet. That 9'6" vault was spectacular. Oh well there will be other games and only 3 more track meets for one of my spawn ever!

Congrats to Ruby and Nora on the rolling over.- so fun on the same day too. great pictures too

I love these cute pictures! So glad they are sleeping better at night. What good girls to decide to turn over on the same day! So they couldn't out due each other. Sorry about you missing the comeback, Dallin. But glad the Blazers did it for your sake.

Sleep is a bless-ed, bless-ed thing. I'm glad you are getting more of it this week! Let's hope the good nights continue.

Here's to hoping they look exactly like Dorothy when they grow up! Either way though, you are on a role for the cutest little girls ever!!
