When she sees something interesting, she gets so focused! She gets this intense look in her eyes while she's doing it, like she is on a very important mission. Nothing can distract her when she gets "in the mode". I know most experienced parents are thinking- that when it comes to the messes she makes, that I could easily stop it. I could. I know what she's doing when she's shredding things or making a mess. I just like to let her do it because she gets so into it, and I think it's cute. We'll see how long that lasts- I've folded all her clothes and reorganized drawers over again how many times now? I've lost count. Either way, it's pretty cute.
Pulling the loose pages out of my recipe binder.
Pulling the clothes out of her drawers (that's two full drawers on the ground!). After I put all the clothes back in, she gave me this look as if to say, "Mom! you have just given me so much more work to do!" And started furiously throwing clothes back out of the drawers.
Pulling the recycling out of it's bin.
Picking the popcorn out of the bowl. This is actually my favorite because she was so funny about it. We were trying to keep it out of her reach because we didn't want her to eat any and choke, but she got so creative with how to get to it and she was so determined that we finally gave in and decided to watch her carefully and see what she did. So funny! She'd pick up an individual kernel, look at it carefully turning it over a few times in her hands, then throw it on the ground.
Pulling flour out of a bowl. I was baking, and she was so curious about the ingredients that I thought, what the heck? I'll let her play little. So, I scooped about a half cup of flour into a little container. She had so much fun! (obviously)
In conclusion, I hope nobody thinks from this that I am either a negligent parent or a total slob. For now, I'll just take pictures and use them as evidence of what I cleaned up to make her do more chores when she's older. Hopefully, we can impose a sense of cleanliness on her at some point. Hopefully...

You are a patient mom!Isn't funny how even the "annoying" things become ever so cute when she flashes you her smile. Many moons ago - I remember someone else who did that to her mom. Payback is sweet!
I love it. I think what you do makes you a great mom. My mom told me she used to let us pull stuff out of drawers and cupboards all the time. She would always say "that is how kids learn! That is why you guys turned out so smart!"
haha... you are very patient!
btw- I am not a stalker... I used to work with Dallin :)
She's getting SOO cute (she was cute before...but just cuter all the time!)You're great you let her make a mess. Spencer is pulling all my newspapers out of the bin as I write this. I have to remind myself these messes are part of their fun, development, learning. I've decided kids love it even more when you make a mess WITH them. I used to fill a shoebox full of stale cheap cheerios, hide objects in there or provide a measuring cup, spoon and let Kenna--at that age-- play with it like a sandbox. Super fun!
see, now that's what I'm looking for, dorothy soooooo adorable, i love it!love you nell!
